Email Forwarding Changes
Date Created: 09/07/2009
Dear Customer,
From the 28th July 2009 we will no longer be supporting the forwarding of emails via email forwarding to popular free email providers.
Why are you removing support for this?
When emails are forwarded from our mail servers to free email providers, many of these emails are being marked /flagged as spam, despite the spam emails not being sent from our servers. This is resulting in our mail servers being blacklisted and stopping genuine emails from being sent.
Which providers will you not be allowing forwarding too?
We will be removing forwarding to the following providers:
@btinernet.com
@yahoo.com / yahoo.co.uk
@aol.com / aol.co.uk
@hotmail.com / hotmail.co.uk
@live.com / live.co.uk
@gmail.com / googlemail.com
Does this mean I can no longer send emails to the free email providers?
No, you can still email the free email providers as normal. We are just not allowing the bulk forwarding of all emails to the listed providers.
What changes do I need to make?
If you are currently using the email forwarding or store/forward options in Helm or the forwarding address option in webmail, you need to remove these forwarders and collect mail from webmail or set-up your email account inside an email client such as Outlook, Thunderbird etc.
How can I access webmail?
Webmail can be accessed via mail.yourdomain.com, replace yourdomain.com with the domain you wish to access webmail on
Email Server Upgrades
Date Created: 26/03/2009
In order to improve the performance of the mail service we will be upgrading and migrating the current mail server to new hardware to increase the speed & efficiency of the mail service. These upgrades will involve IP address and mail hostname changes to the mail service.
During this time the Windows mail service will be unavailable for up to 1 hour while this work is carried out.
Please ensure you use the following details to connect to the mail server:
Incoming Mail Server: mail.ourwindowsnetwork.com OR mail.domain.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.ourwindowsnetwork.com OR mail.domain.com
Webmail: mail.ourwindowsnetwork.com OR mail.domain.com OR webmail.domain.com
* Replace domain.com with a domain you are hosting
If you currently manage DNS for your domains elsewhere and do not point your nameservers to us after the mail upgrades have been completed you will need to update the “mail” record IP address to 89.238.132.119 for your mail service to continue to work.
Server Migration
Date Created: 25/03/2009
At the beginning of this month a number of our servers were re-located to a new custom build datacentre in Manchester Trafford Park. However some of our web servers (servers which host websites) were kept in London as they are soon to be decommissioned and replaced with new more up to date hardware.
Unfortunately it is no longer technically possible for these servers to remain in London. The following servers will be re-located to the new facility and will be unavailable: Dione/Atlas/Hydra/Thebe/Rhea
All sites on the new Hotel server will remain on-line along with mail, databases, DNS & the Helm Control Panel for all domains.
MAINTENANCE WINDOW
Due to the physical migration of the servers, downtime is unavoidable and unfortunately is considerable; we have allocated an eight and half hour window for the migration to be completed within:
Start @ Thursday 26th March 2009 - 10PM (UK Time)
End @ Friday 27th March 2009 – 6.30AM (UK Time)
DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW
We would like to emphasise that no configuration changes will be involved and IP addresses will remain the same, the servers are simply being switched off, transported to the new facility and switched back on.
Please accept our apologies in advance for the short notice of this work and for any inconvenience this outage will cause.
If you have any problems or questions regarding the maintenance windows please contact us using our helpdesk, email or our community forums.

* N+1 Down flow Cooling
* Heavy-duty raised access floor
* VESDA Fire Detection with FM200 suppression
* Overhead data cable containment
* Highly efficient cooling with cold-aisle containment
* Dedicated 11Kv substation on-site
* Full generator backup, with several days' on-site fuel storage
* 24-hour monitored and recorded internal and external CCTV security
* Multiple-10G resilient network ring linking the site to key datacentres in Manchester and London, and onwards to Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Belgium over a European network
MAINTENANCE WINDOW
Due to the physical migration of network hardware & servers, downtime is unavoidable and unfortunately is considerable; we have allocated an eight and half hour window for the migration to be completed within:
Start @ Thursday 5th March 2009 - 10PM (UK Time)
End @ Friday 6th March 2009 – 6.30AM (UK Time)
DURING THE MAINTENANCE WINDOW
We would like to emphasise that no configuration changes will be involved and IP addresses will remain the same, the servers are simply being switched off, transported to the new facility and switched back on.
During this maintenance our backup mail server located in another facility within the UK will store all email and deliver it to our primary mail server after the maintenance has completed. We will also be carrying out extra backups before the migration starts alongside our standard backup routine.
Please accept our apologies in advance for the short notice of this work and for any inconvenience this outage will cause.
During the maintenance you can always contact us via Instant Messenger and telephone. Please feel free to contact us before the maintenance window usuing the normal methods.
Warm Regards, Silverline Web Solutions
